Annotation
Present work analyses the grotesque from a fresh perspective. Grotesque, which has been largely considered as a style, has been examined as a mode of expression as well as experience. An effort has been made by the author to establish that a writer of the grotesque exaggerates, juxtaposes, deforms and destroys Normal structures to give his content, his thought, his point of view, a new form, a new structure. Precisely, he structures his themes in his texts. It scrutinizes certain stylistic features and comprehensive Structural principles in the Fiction of Carson McCullers with the assertion that they carry the weight of the grotesque Meaning and experience. Like most of the other modes of expression, the grotesque is employed to see the World anew, which, though strange and disturbing one, is nevertheless valid and realistic. It is an expression of the problematical Nature of man`s existence marked by strife, radical change and disorientation, which expresses itself through various grotesque stylistic devices.
