Chemical engineers translate processes developed in the lab into practical applications for the commercial production of products and then work to maintain and improve those processes. Some mechanical engineers do sums about combustion, which is a major chemical reaction and the source of a lot of energy (and pollution). They have to consider the different components of the fuel and the reactions involved. (Chemical engineering again.) Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that uses principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, and economics to efficiently use, produce, design, transport and transform energy and materials. The work of chemical engineers can range from the utilisation of nano-technology and nano-materials in the laboratory to large-scale industrial processes that convert chemicals, raw materials, living cells, microorganisms, and energy into useful forms and products. This book is specially designed for B.E. and B. Tech. students of all branches of engineering and technology.
