Annotation

Criminal justice and beyond is meant to provide the reader with a current compilation of the most recent publications covering various aspects of the criminal justice discipline. As we prepared this text we paid special attention to making sure the most salient components of criminal justice are represented. Criminal justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, or sancioning those who violate laws with criminal penalties and rehabilitation eiloris. Those accused of crime have some protections against abuse of investigatory and prosecution powers. In criminal law, corporate liability determines the nt to which a corporation as a legal person can be liable for the acts and omissions of the natural persons it employs. It is sometimes regarded as an aspect of criminal vicarious llability, as distinct from the situation in which the wording of a statutory offence specifically aftaches liability to the corporation as the principal or joint principal with a human agent. In addition, as evidenced by the title, we included several manuscripts that cover important criminal justice topics from an international perspective. This is an important component and necessary for a true, comprehensive approach to the discipline of criminal justice.
