Annotation

A new branch of study in criminological literature. Why do the law enforcement officials commit crimes? Community policing is perhaps the most misunderstood and frequently abused theme in police management during this decade. In the past few years, it has become fashionable for police agencies to initiate community policing, often with little notion of what that phrase means. Indeed, all manner of organizational tinkering has been labeled community policing. But community policing is not a program. Criminology is an older larger field of sociology dealing with matters related to crime and criminal behaviour. It includes fields such as crime statistics, criminal psychology, forensic science, law enforcement, and dGiesive methods. It adheres to the natural science model and borrows heavily from philosophy, psycliolcu ado sociology. In politics, law and order refers to demands for a strict criminal justice system, especialyTe relation to violent and property crime, through harsher criminal penalties. These penalties may include longer terms of imprisonment, mandatory sentencing, and in some countries, capital punishment. This book talks about police crimes down the millennia and analyses the etiological aspects of police crimes. Oppression, extortion, corruption, coercion, concoction of evidence, connivance with underworld criminals, nexus crimes, manipulation of records, abuse of power, misuse of authority, perversions in thoughts, etc.
