The two decades from 1989 to 2009 could only be described as Aung San Suu Kyi's dark years. Confined to her home in Yangon or detained at the notorious Insein prison, she was deprived of the many normal things in life. By fate perhaps, the author Moe linn became her trusted cook for 'the lady' in 1995 and spent those long dark years as a faithful aide at her lakeside residence where he prepared her daily meals. Written with only a burmese reader in mind, it has now been translated into English and published in 2013, giving the world a unique view of a remarkable women from a Burmese perspective.
